Walk “Caves of Aitzbitarte” SL-Gi 1003, Gipuzkoa
ES- 20100 Listorreta, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Spain

Duration approx. 2,5 hrs. / circular walk
8 km / 260 m altitude difference / easy

Done: Summer 2016

My name is Moon and I’m a Border Collie. I would like to share a walk I did together with my human friend Mari Jose. This walk starts from a parking in Listorreta. During 8 km you are able to get to know more about the life of our ancestors. You will partly walk along the river Landarbaso, you can visit the caves of Aitzbitarte and more megalithic monuments. One of the most special ones it the dolmen de Igoingo Lepua II.

Arriving at the parking of Listorreta you’ll notice that there’s quite a lot of  parking space but even though during summertime it can easy get crowded. Lots of people come here to spend some time in the fields where there are BBQ’s, where humans like to prepare their meals. During this time of the year it’s advisable to be here early and avoid parking problems. The parking is for free. There’s one bar open all year round and another one only during high season.

Your humans will find an information board with all details about the several tracks you can do from here. As you can see, there’s a copy in the link below. Officially, we dogs, aren’t allowed to walk off leash here. I’m just saying… . I, Moon, were off leash all the time as I know how to behave. I met quite some other dogs who weren’t on the leash as well. But make sure your humans know the rules!

I had a fabulous day! I just love running around and even more when there is water involved. Can you imagine me in the river along the trail?! It’s a quiet place where you can learn about ancient times, at least that’s what my human friend Mari Jose told me. I don’t know much about all that, but I do know that I had a great time. The track is well signposted and easy.
